A Brief Introduction to the Biological
Base
For cultivating high-level talents in fundamental sciences,
a batch of state-level bases for
fundamental science research and teaching were founded.
The base began its
enrollment in 1995 with an average annual acceptance of 32 people candidates. Now the base
is authorized to confer bachelor’s degrees in
biology, biotechnology and ecology, to grant master’s degrees in zoology,
botany, ecology and microbiology and to confer doctor’s degrees in ecology. In
1998 the base was approved to institute a post-doctors’ exchange program on
biology, and embarked on the enrollment of post-doctoral candidates in the very
same year. In the base the subject of plateau and mountainous ecology and
biological resources is one of the key subjects of “the Project 211” run by the
