The series of annual Asian Computer Science Conferences (ASIAN) was initiated in 1995 by AIT, INRIA and UNU/IIST to provide a forum for researchers in computer science from the Asian region and to promote interaction with researchers from other regions.The first nine conferences have been held respectively in Bangkok, Singapore, Katmandu,Manila, Phuket, Penang, Hanoi, Mumbai and Chiang Mai. ASIAN 2005 will take place in Kunming, China, December 7-9. Each year, the conference focuses on a different theme at the cutting edge of computer science research. The theme of ASIAN 2005 will be data management on the Web.

Call for papers

ASIAN 2005 seeks original papers describing research on theoretical or practical aspects of data management on the Web. Papers should not have been published or be in submission at another conference or journal. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

Semistructured data
Data integration and provenance
Data mining on the Web
Search and information retrieval on the Web
Security, Privacy and E-Commerce
Semantic Web
XML and Web Services
Collaborative computing
Peer-to-peer data management
Data streams and publish-subscribe systems
Web-based applications

Paper submission deadline: July 6, 2005
Acceptance notification: August 19, 2005
Camera-ready paper due: September 15, 2005

Submission

Submissions are limited to 10 pages (excluding references, font size at least 11 pts). Each submission must provide sufficient detail to allow the program committee to assess its merits and should include appropriate references to and comparisons with the literature. It is recommended that each submission begins with a succinct statement of the problem, a summary of the main results, and a brief explanation of their significance and relevance to the topic of the conference, all suited for the non-specialist. Technical development of the work, directed to the specialist, should follow. If the authors believe more details are necessary to substantiate the main claims of the paper, they may include a clearly marked appendix to be read at the discretion of the committee. Proceedings

The proceedings will be published by Springer-Verlag in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science http://www.springeronline.com/lncs. Please prepare your manuscript using the series' style, following the instructions at http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html . The proceedings papers will be limited to 15 pages.

Practical Information

Tour Arrangement:

During the conference, it is likely to arrange the delegates to pay a visit to DALI,LiJiang and Shangri-La by air, which are famous travelling spots of Yunnan Province. It will take you seven or five days. The journey will cost you $335 or so.

  • 10/12 KUNMING/DALI (2100 meters above the sea level)
  • Fly to Dali in the morning, 30 minutes. Visit Three Pagodas and cruise on Erhai. Free time for discovering the old town Dali.
    Overnight at LIJIANG.

  • 11/12 DALI/LIJIANG (2500 meters above the sea level)
  • Drive to Lijiang, 180 KM, 3 hours. Visit Black Dragon Pond with Dongba Museum, Palace of family Mu, Longquan Naxi village and old town
    Lijiang. Overnight at LIJIANG.

  • 12/12 LIJIANG/Lugu Lake
  • LuGu Lake£¬appreciate Small LiangSHan Mountain view. Arrive at LuGu Lake after supper£¬take part in Jiacuo Ti needfire evening party. Overnight at LuGu Lake Mosuo folk residence.

  • Visit the Jade Dragon Snow Mountains, Yushui village of Naxi minority and Baisha Frescos. Overnight at LIJIANG.

  • Drive 200 KM northern to Zhongdian, 5 hours. On the way visit Tiger Leaping Gorge, first bend of Yangzi River. Overnight at Shangri-La.

  • 16/12 ZHONGDIAN/KUNMING
  • Visit Ganden Songzanglin Monastery in the morning, then excurse to Bita Lake, visit Dabao Monastery with village of Tibetan. Fly back to Kunming in the evening, 50 minutes.

    Another itinerary is Kunming-JianShui-YuanYang. The journey will cost you three days and $100 or so.

  • Drive to JianShui in the morning. JianShui, 220 kilometers south of Kunming, is a state historic and cultural city. Moreover, it is one of the earliest developed cities in south YunNan that enjoys the fame of being an ancient cultural city and important gateway. Overnight at Jianshui.

  • 18/12 JIANSHUI/YUANYANG
  • Drive to YuanYang in the morning. The Ailao Mountain Range is a branch of the Yunling Mountains. Its highest peak is 3165 meters above see level. The best place to view the terraced field is in the south of YuanYang County. Overnight at YuanYang.

  • 19/12 YUANYANG/KUNMING
  • Viste Swallow Cave at JianShui. Then drive back to Kunming.
